ISLAMABAD: Talks between the government and the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) are under way at PTI leader Jehangir Tareen's residence on Saturday, DawnNews reported

The government's negotiators include Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Pervez Rasheed, Minister for Planning Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal, Abdul Qadir Baloch and Zahid Hamid.

The government's negotiating team maintained its unflinching stance that it was ready to accept all of PTI's demands except the party's call for the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

PTI hires Advocate Abdul Pirzada for 'charter of demands'

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) hired the services of Advocate Abdul Hafeez Pirzada in order to give a final shape to the 'charter of demands' it has put forward before the government.

In order to metamorphose a rough draft into an agreement, the PTI sought the expert opinion of the senior lawyer.

Speaking to Dawn, PTI spokeswoman Shireen Mazari said Secretary General Jehangir Tareen "had called Pirzada in his personal capacity to advise the PTI".

A meeting, headed by PTI vice president Shah Mehmood Qureshi, is currently under way with Pirzada in attendance.

PTI negotiators — Asad Umar, Tareen, Pervez Khattak, Shafqat Mahmood and Qureshi — will later proceed to the Convention Centre in order to mediate with the government.

The PTI has put forward a list of six demands, which include the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif – a demand from which the party is not willing to budge.
