ISLAMABAD: With the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) adamant on its demands and rhetoric against the government and the Nawaz team refusing to budge, a sixth round of talks between the two sides is to be held on Saturday at 4pm, sources said.
The government's side will be led by Ishaq Dar and will include Pervez Rasheed, Ahsan Iqbal, Abdul Qadir Baloch and Zahid Hamid, whereas PTI will be represented by Asad Umar, Jahangir Tareen, Pervez Khattak, Shafqat Mahmood and Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
The latest round of talks will come as all previous discussions on a resolution of the political deadlock have remained unsuccessful and the government's handling of the crisis especially with relation to engaging the military to mediate has begun to come under much scrutiny.
Yesterday's round of talks proved to be fruitless after the prime minister washed his hands off the idea of seeking the military's help and pinned it on an initiative from the PTI and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), whose activists remain camped on D-chowk.
Following the end of Friday's meeting, Imran addressed his supporters from atop his container and accused the prime minister of lying on the floor of the National Assembly. He said his party would expand its sit-in to rallies in Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad and Multan starting Saturday. The PTI chairman also said he will announce his next step on Sunday.
