KARACHI: A meeting of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) held on Saturday, headed by the party’s deputy convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui in Karachi's Azizabad, discussed the ongoing political crisis.

According to DawnNews, Siddiqui said it was the need of the hour that the government proceeded with prudence and took consensus from others over the prevailing political crisis, adding that the leadership of the protesting parties should also act patiently.

The meeting was attended by MQM leaders Dr Farooq Sattar, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Kanwar Naveed Jamil, Kanwar Khalid Younis, Babar Ghouri, Nasrin Jalil and some party members.

The deadlock between the government and protesters sitting in Islamabad's D-chowk was the main topic of discussion during the meeting held at the Khursheed Begum Secretariat.

Addressing the meeting, Sidiqqui said that party leader Altaf Hussain’s endeavour to uphold democracy in the current political turmoil was laudable and that he is a sincere leader who will continue to raise his voice for the oppressed.

It was stressed during the meeting that the government should pay adequate attention to the demands of the protesters and solve the issue with political insight.

The participants also observed that the government was unable to deal with the protesters.

At the end of the session, a prayer was said for the stability and progress of Pakistan.
