LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday admitted a petition regarding the dissolution of provincial and national assemblies.
Following the hearing, the court sent notices to the federal government, Punjab government, the Election Commission of Pakistan and Attorney General Salman Butt to appear before it on November 19.
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Punjab President Khan Abdul Qayyum Khan had filed the petition, claiming that assemblies should be dissolved as members were violating the Constitution.

The petitioner had accused the assembly members of receiving commission from people of their locality for development projects in the area.
Moreover, he had said that since last year’s elections were rigged, the present assembly members had no legal basis to retain their position.
The petitioner had also alleged that majority of the parliamentarians were involved in corruption and did not qualify under the clauses of Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
