US sees crisis moving towards peaceful resolution

WASHINGTON: The United States said on Thursday that it was carefully monitoring the situation at Islamabad’s D-Chowk, which seemed moving towards a peaceful resolution.
At a news briefing in Washington, State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki once again urged the government and the protesters to show restraint and avoid any step that could further deteriorate an already tense situation.

“We have been carefully monitoring the demonstrations in Islamabad. We continue to urge all sides to refrain from violence, exercise restraint, respect the rule of law,” Ms Psaki said.
She also noted that “peaceful protests and freedom of expression” were “important aspects of democracy” but they should be exercised with restraint.
Responding to a question on cross-border firing between India and Pakistan, the US official asked the two nuclear-armed countries to resolve their differences through negotiations.
“We encourage dialogue between the two countries,” she said.

All I can say... Leaders like Nawaz and Zardari made America of this mentality that they like to interfere in our internal matters. But I will not say anything until Imran become PM and will see how he will respond to American monopoly and diplomatic pressure. But US days are gone and it's Pakistan who has to realise it. What is new in this? The US should let us do close to 10% of what has been happening in Missouri. We just want a prime minister elected by legal means and not by rigging.NS has no authority. It is hard to provide 2 billions rupees worth help to IDPS but Marian Nawaz is heading 120 billions funds for buying laptops for young people.

I agree with you but we are in completely different realm. To pass the commenting on the floor of U.S. State Department and to face reality at D-Square & Red Zone in Islamabad and life in Pakistan are completely opposite aspects of life.

Apologize to Pakistani commentators on this forum if my observation is hard hitting. But US is minding its own business. It gives billions of $$ to Pakistan (Billions of $$ is going to the seat of power in Pakistan, either it is PA or civil administration. Whether it reaches the poor or not is not its concern). Hence it is a legitimate stakeholder in the internal affairs of the only 'atomic power' of the ummah. When AAP party in India was doing almost similar actions, India did not get to hear from the US because India does not get billions of $$ of aid.

It was the recent Western Civilization ( The British) which gave Parliament, Judiciary and an organized Army to India and Pakistan. Now if the United States gives some good advice to the people of Pakistan then the people should take it.
It is evident that the U. S. did not tell Nawaz Sharif to seek the mediation of the Pakistan Army.
The United States has committed many blunders in its history but this time it is making sense.
If the major players of the nuclear armed Pakistan cannot resolve their disputes through the arbitration of a judicial/civilian tribunal then what U. S. is supposed to do.
