LANDI KOTAL: Security forces claimed on Tuesday to have killed four suspected militants during a shootout in Jamrud.

According to officials, personnel of Khasadar force found four bullet-riddled bodies in Malak Shaga area of Ghundi after an encounter between security forces and suspected militants at around midnight.

Curfew was imposed in the area for some time in the morning and a search operation was carried out. The restrictions on movement of people were eased later in the day.

The bodies were taken to Jamrud Civil Hospital but the deceased could not be identified.

Meanwhile, the political administration handed over a list of 70 wanted suspects to the Kukikhel elders and demanded their handing over by Sept 5.

Officials said that the tribe’s elders during a jirga on Monday had sought the list of wanted suspects in order to avoid arrest of innocent people during search operations.

The elders were told to persuade the wanted men to surrender to the administration and warned that a targeted operation would be launched if they failed to fulfil the government’s demand.
