ISLAMABAD: The management of the metro bus project has displayed a banner in front of Sector G-9/4 warning the people against crossing a ditch where an underpass is under construction.

It is the same place where two labourers died and four injured in mudslide on August 12.

The banner has been displayed by the Rawalpindi Development Authority which has been supervising the project.

Mohammad Fayyaz Zaeem, the contractor of G-9 section of metro bus project, while talking to Dawn said that the banner has been displayed for the awareness of the people of the area.

“My labourers already know that the land at the site is soft and can slide anytime. It can prove dangerous for the residents of G-8 and G-9 who visit the two opposite sectors through the ditch. They resist when they are told that they should not cross the ditch where barbed wires have also been placed,” he said.

Moreover when crane works, a number of people come there and spend hours watching the crane, bulldozer and other machinery, which is also dangerous as they can fall in the ditch, he said.
