LAHORE: Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) President Shafqat Mahmood Chohan warned Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on Tuesday against speaking ill of acting Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik.

He told a press conference the parties holding sit-ins (dharna) in Islamabad should avoid scandalising and pressurising the judges. He said anti-democratic forces were hatching conspiracies in the country.

Mr Chohan said he rejected counter rallies by the PML-N and added this could lead to anarchy. He said the judiciary should not interfere in political issues but only to protect fundamental rights of citizens.

Bar secretary Ahmad Chichar and other office-bearers were also present.
