TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores of rickshaw drivers blocked traffic on Toba-Jhang and Toba-Kamalia roads on Tuesday to protest alleged undue challans by traffic police.

Rickshaw Drivers Association President Abdul Jabbar Bhullar told reporters despite repeated requests traffic police officials did not take any notice of collection of bribe from them by policemen, which was why they had come out on the roads.

Later, city police SHO Saeed Akhtar held talks with the drivers and assured them of containing this practice over which they ended their protest after half an hour.

ARRESTS: Gojra city police arrested the two remaining suspects in a triple murder case in Imamia Colony.

Three people were murdered in Gojra a month ago after being poisoned and shot dead under mysterious circumstances. Mian Manzoor Ahmad had returned from Saudi Arabia after working there for several years. His wife had died two years ago, and he had a 12-year-old son Kamran.

The father and son and the boy’s maid Umaira Bibi were having dinner at home when someone had mixed poison in their food. When they passed out, the suspects had shot them dead and fled after locking the house from outside.

During investigation, police had arrested Hafeez who had confessed to killing the three along with his two associates, including a nephew of Mian Manzoor, to grab his property.

On Tuesday, police arrested the nephew Asif and the third suspect Ashfaq.
