MANSEHRA: Two people were killed and 17 others were injured when a jeep fell into a ravine in Balakot here on Friday.

The jeep was on its way to Athmuqam area of Azad Kashmir from Battakundi area of Kaghan valley, carrying devotees. It met the accident near Garlat area when the driver while negotiating a sharp turn lost control over the steering, plunging the vehicle into a ravine.

The victims were identified as Jehangir and Mohammad Shabeer. The injured and dead were shifted to hospitals in Balakot and Mansehra by local police and people.

Balakot police said that the dead and injured had come to a shrine in Battakundi from Athmuqam region of AJK and met the accident while on way back. Police registered FIR into the incident and began in investigation.
