PESHAWAR: A seven-member delegation of the University Sains Malaysia (USM) visited the University of Peshawar (UoP) to exchange modalities for issuance of joint degrees earlier agreed upon in a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions.

The two institutions also agreed to cooperate in the fields of home economics, chemical sciences, art and design, archaeology, management, disaster preparedness and management, geology and entrepreneurship, said a UoP press release.

The delegation led by Prof Mukhtar of the Centre for Archaeology, USM, also met UoP vice-chancellor Prof Rasul Jan.

`”The University of Peshawar is the oldest institution of the province and its current national ranking is sixth in terms of research output,” said the UoP vice-chancellor. Prof Jan said that sharing experience and learning from each other would benefit the two institutions in the years to come. He said that the UoP and most of other varsities in the country had been focussing on education, access and quality, but trends of trade had changed.

The delegation also visited the College of Home Economics, Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Museum and Institute of Chemical Sciences. The two universities would also organise special training programmes for management of the university so as to achieve the vision of mission of their respective institutions.
