SHIKARPUR: Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly Shaharyar Khan Mahar has advised Sindh government to announce timeframe for local government polls as early as possible so that people’s civic problems can be resolved at their doorsteps.

Talking to journalists here on Friday, Mr Mahar criticised the process of recruitment of police and said who could guarantee protection to the life and property of people when policemen were recruited on political grounds without taking into consideration merit and character.

He advised the government to formulate a viable policy for the recruitment of policemen on the basis of merit.
