LAHORE: Robbers and thieves looted cash, jewellery and other valuables all worth Rs9.2 million during eight major strikes in the provincial capital during three Eid holidays, police said.

Four robbers barged in the house of Amjad Sattar in Baghbanpura and took away cash and valuables worth Rs1.2m.

Three armed men stormed into the house of Haris Farooqi in Ashiq Street in Township police remit and escaped after looting Rs1 million in cash and kind.

Thieves broke into the house of Dawn’s senior photographer Azhar Jafri in the Journalists Housing Society in Harbanspura police remit on the first day of Eidul Fitr and took away cash, gold ornaments and valuables worth Rs2.5 million.

According to complainant Aun Ali Jafri, son of Azhar Jafri, unidentified people made their way into their house in A Block after 2pm when all family members were away to see their relatives.

When they returned home after 8pm, the main door was broke open and goods were lying at sixes and sevens.

The family found Rs700,000, seven tolas of gold ornaments, silver weighing 25 tolas and other valuables missing.

Harbanspura police have registered a case and are investigating.

Four robbers made their way into the house of Aamir Husain in Defence A police limits and made off with cash and valuables all worth Rs900,000.

Two armed men stopped Nawaz in Chuhng police limits and snatched cash and his car valuing Rs1.6 million.

Two robbers approached the family of Zahid in Johar Town police limits and robbed them of cash and valuables worth Rs800,000.

Three robbers waylaid Iqbal in Nawab Town police remit and snatched Rs750,000 in cash, a mobile phone and batteries.

Two robbers approached Deeba Iqra and her daughter in Sattokatla police remit and deprived them of cash, mobile phones and jewellery worth Rs500,000.

MURDERED: Four people were murdered in different parts of the city during three Eidul Fitr holidays, the police said.

The Garhi Shahu police said 16-year-old Munawwar Husain, who worked at a milk shop, was killed after car rider Zeeshan opened fire on him following a quarrel with a rickshaw driver.

The police said Munawwar of Kahror Pakka had intervened to mediate between the two.

The Manawan police said 24-year-old Naseem was killed after her husband Tariq attacked her with bricks following a domestic dispute.

The police said the mother of four died in hospital while her mother Razia also suffered brick injuries.

The police have arrested the suspect.

The Raiwind police said the sack-packed body of a young woman was found at a desolated place near Raiwind Road.

The police suspected the woman was murdered by unknown people.

The Shadbagh police said 31-year-old Khurram Shahzad was killed by Nanha and his accomplices in Bhaggatpura on Thursday.

Shahzad, who did some business in Rana Town and was the father of a child, came to see his sister in Bhaggatpura where he and the suspects got into argument.

The suspects fled the scene after killing him.
