QUETTA: The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) held a demonstration here on Tuesday in protest against the provincial government’s alleged apathy towards missing persons whose mutilated bodies continued to be dumped.
Holding placards and banners, the demonstrators marched on different roads in the city and raised slogans against enforced disappearances of Baloch youths and dumping of their bodies.
Addressing the rally, Mama Qadeer Baloch, vice chairman of the VBMP, and Bibi Banarhi Baloch condemned the “lukewarm” attitude of the government, personnel of security forces and intelligence agencies to find the missing persons.
VBMP concerned over dumping of mutilated bodies
They claimed that thousands of innocent persons had been kidnapped and were being tortured in detention. Mutilated bodies of missing people, they added, were often found dumped in various parts of Balochistan.
They also criticised the silence of political groups and human rights organisations over the issue and said that the so-called champions of democracy, political liberty and human rights had forgotten the missing persons.
They said that it was the responsibility of the United Nations and international human rights organisations to take notice of the issue.
The VBMP leaders said while people were celebrating Eid they were parading on roads to raise their voice for the missing persons.
