LANDI KOTAL/CHARSADDA: Security forces killed a suspected militant in Landi Kotal while the bodies of two kidnapped persons, including a security man, were found in Jamrud tehsil on Sunday.
Officials said that security forces imposed curfew and conducted a search operation in Ashkhel, Meerdadkhel and Mukhtarkhel localities of Landi Kotal tehsil on the night between Saturday and Sunday.
They said that during the search operation, the security officials opened firing on a suspicious car, which did not stop when it was signalled by the forces.
A suspected militant was killed and some other suspects were injured in the firing but they were taken along by their fleeing accomplices, officials said. Security forces also took into custody two cars, used by the militants.
The killed militant was later buried in a local graveyard without disclosing his identity, they added.
Local administration and security forces made announcement about the imposition of curfew prior to launching search operation.
Local people were strictly advised not to venture out of their homes during the search operation.
The curfew was, however, lifted early on Sunday morning to provide an opportunity to local tribesmen to purchase daily use items for the upcoming Eid.
Meanwhile, eight-year-old Abdur Rahim, who was critically injured in security forces firing on Friday night in Landi Kotal, died in a Peshawar hospital on Sunday.
His relatives said that doctors conducted two surgeries on him to save his life but in vein.

The Khasadar Force also found the mutilated body of another abducted person identified as Heran Gul in Ghundi area. He had been missing for the last few days. Sources said that he was associated with a banned militant group. Security forces later conducted a search operation in both the localities.
Also in Jamrud, armed men riding a motorcycle opened firing on Nabi Gul, a watchman at agency education officer, early on Sunday morning. Nabi Gul received multiple bullet injuries and was shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar.
