KARACHI: Setting aside the result for the 2013 general elections for Karachi’s PS-114 constituency on Friday, an election tribunal has ordered re-election for the constituency located in Karachi’s Mehmoodabad area, DawnNews reported.

The election was won by Irfanullah Marwat of the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) with Abdur Rauf Siddiqui of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) as runner-up.

Son-in-law of former president Ghulam Ishaq Khan, Marwat had won the election against Siddiqui with a margin of around 7000 votes in the May 11, 2013 polls.

Siddiqui had later filed an application challenging Marwat’s victory in which he had alleged that Marwat had rigged the election by making the entire polling staff of the constituency hostage in blatant violation of election laws.
