ISLAMABAD: A woman and her daughter were caught red-handed while pick-pocketing at Aabpara Market on Wednesday, police claimed.
People at the market caught the girl who was trying to pick pockets and manhandled her. When she called out to her mother for help, the people treated the girl’s mother in the same manner.
As a result of the commotion, Aabpara police reached the spot, arrested the woman and her daughter and shifted them to the women police station.
Some of the shopkeepers later came to Aabpara police station but failed to find both them there.
They alleged that the police had released them and staged a protest, damaging public and private property.
Later, the area magistrate reached the spot and informed the protesters about the whereabouts of the alleged pick-pockets, who were facing legal action.
After assurances from the magistrate, the protesters dispersed from the scene.
