GUJRANWALA: The maintenance manager of a telecom company was killed while his colleagues were injured on Tuesday in shooting by shopkeepers at Lohianwala Bypass.

Police said Abdul Qayyum, 35, the maintenance manager of the telecom company, along with Akhtar and Adeel-18 was repairing a generator when shopkeepers Qaiser and Jameel exchanged words with them over the smoke and noise caused by the generator.

The shopkeepers opened fire at them leaving Qayyum dead and Akhtar and Adeel injured. They were rushed to the civil hospital where their condition was stated to be serious.

Police registered a case against the suspects.

ROBBERIES: Gunmen deprived two traders of Rs1 million on Tuesday.

Scrap dealer Hamza was held by gunmen who took away Rs800,000 from him.

Another trader Saleem, of Husnain Town, withdrew Rs200,000 from the bank when two armed men snatched the cash from him at gunpoint and escaped.
