CHAKWAL: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has claimed that his government has put the country on the path to progress and said there will be prosperity in the country after four years.

He was addressing a gathering at Dhudial after laying the foundation-stone of two major road projects on Wednesday.

“There is no doubt that there are many hurdles, but we are doing our work honestly.” He said his government had inherited several problems and the electricity crisis was there even before the previous PPP government took over.

Mr Sharif said that over the past three years there was loadshedding worse than today, but his government had taken bold steps to solve the problem.

Listing the initiatives taken by his government, he said that 10 coal power plants were being set up in Gadani, 10 in Thar, four in Punjab, two at Port Qasim, while Dasu power project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Bhasha Dam project were also launched.

The prime minister said the feasibility of a railway service from Islamabad to Muzaffarabad would be ready in six months, while projects like linking Kashghar with Gwadar and a motorway from Lahore to Karachi were under way.

About the military operation in North Waziristan, he said his government was trying to restore peace in the country. “By the grace of Allah we will win this war and peace will be restored across the country.”

He said the government was also trying to cleanse the country of illegal arms.

Earlier, the prime minister laid the foundation stone of Mandra-Chakwal Road and Chakwal-Sohawa Road projects.

He directed the National Logistics Cell to complete the projects in 12 months.
