KARACHI: A man, his wife and their two children were killed in a road accident in Gulshan-i-Maymar on Wednesday, police and hospital officials said.

The family members were riding on a motorcycle when a dumper truck hit them at a roundabout near Jamia Rasheed in Ahsanabad. As a result, the man and the two children died on the spot and the woman died during treatment at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. The dead man and the girls were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where they were identified as Nazar Hussain, 46, Mahvish, 8, and Nausheen, 6. The woman was identified as Manzooran Khatoon, 40.

They were resident of Allah Bakhsh Goth in Ahsanabad.

The driver escaped the spot, leaving the dumper behind. The incident enraged area people who tried to set the vehicle on fire, but police arrived there and controlled the situation, said Superhighway Industrial police SHO Rana Haseeb.
