PESHAWAR: One alleged drug smuggler was killed in encounter and two others were arrested at Karkhano Market here the other day.

When contacted, an official of Nasir Bagh police station said that three alleged smugglers going on a motorbike from tribal area to Peshawar offered resistance when police tried to stop them for checking.

“The police tried to recover the heroin and pistol from the suspected smugglers, but they started beating the policemen and opened fire as a result of which a police head constable Jahangir was injured,” the official said, adding that one of alleged smugglers, Mohammad Arif, was killed in the ensuing encounter.

The police also arrested Arifullah of Koz Kandi, Badbher, and Majeed of Zangali and seized three kilogrammes of heroin from their possession.
