KARACHI: Three people of a family, including a child, were killed in a road accident early on Sunday, DawnNews reported.

The accident occurred on the Super Highway near Kathor and involved a car and a truck carrying poultry. Rescue teams shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital and added that the bodies were beyond recognition.

In a separate incident, 30 people, including women and children, were seriously injured when two passenger buses collided near Dhabeji district on the Karachi-Thatta highway. Rescue teams shifted the wounded to a nearby hospital, out of which 16 are said to be in a critical condition.

Pakistan has one of the world’s worst records for fatal traffic accidents, blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving. In recent days, the country has witnessed sharp rise in the number of such deadly accidents.
