A citizen had written to the court asking it to take notice of hundreds of children affected by a disease known as Rubella in Thatta and Sujawal areas of Sindh.

He also requested for vaccinations against the disease to contain it warning that failure to do so would enable the disease to spread across the country.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani had earlier on March 7, taken suo motu notice over the deaths of children due to famine and outbreak of epidemics in Tharparkar district, one of the drought-hit part of Sindh.
