DERA MURAD JAMALI: Gas supply to the Pir Koh purification plant was disrupted when militants blew up a portion of the pipeline near Dera Bugti on Wednesday, security officials said.

They said armed men planted the time device under the 16-inch diameter pipeline feeding the plant in Pir Koh field and blew it up in the early hours.

“A big portion of the pipeline connecting the purification plant with gas wells was blown up,” a senior security official said, adding that militants used a remote control for detonating the explosive device.

The OGDC officials said that engineers and other staff had visited the site and decided to carry out the repair work after security clearance.

“The drug was kept in hidden cavities of the van that was intercepted by police in Mach area,” Bolan District Police Officer Ghulam Ali Lashari said, adding that a man, identified as Mohammad Omer, was arrested and handed over to the authorities concerned for interrogation.
