KARAK: The employees of tehsil municipal administration (TMA), Banda Daud Shah, here have not been paid their salaries for the last four months due to the TMA’s poor financial condition. The employees have threatened to launch a protest campaign if they are not paid salaries by the end of current month.
District president of the TMAs Employees Union Azam Khan told a meeting of the employees here on Wednesday that TMA employees of the oil and gas producing Banda Daud Shah tehsil were without salaries for the last four months.
He said that under the new local government system the revenue generation areas of the tehsil had been included in the district council, causing a drastic cut in the revenues of the Banda Daud Shah TMA.
He claimed that due to the weaker financial position of the TMA it could not afford expenses of the salaries and pensions of the employees.
He demanded of the provincial government to provide special grant to the TMA for payment of salaries to the 65 employees otherwise the employees would start a protest campaign to get their rights.
Talking to mediapersons, former tehsil nazim Hameedullah said that elected representatives from the area were responsible for this state of affairs.
He said that none of the heads of the TMA so far had tried or planned to increase its revenue.
