LAHORE: A 13-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his workplace on Wednesday.

Sattukatla police said Asad Ali, a resident of Sheikhupura, worked as a sweeper at a hotel in Shadaywal village of Johar Town. They claimed the motive behind the alleged suicide was the boy’s reluctance to work at the hotel owned by Malik Waheed, while his father wanted him to continue.

On Tuesday morning, Asad was forcibly taken to the hotel by his father Arshad as he had earlier stopped going to work.

Police said the boy hanged himself with an electric wire attached to the roof of a room in the hotel. A security guard found him hanged and alerted the owner as well as police.

Police handed over the body to the family after autopsy.

ACCIDENT: Three people, including a woman, died in separate accidents in the provincial capital on Wednesday.

Liaquatabad police said Hayat, 55, alias Bagu Masih was hit and killed by a car on Model Town Link Road.

Police said Hayat, a sweeper in Model Town Cooperative Society, was sweeping the road when a car hit and injured him.

The driver sped away leaving his car behind, which was impounded by police.

The injured was taken to Jinnah Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police shifted the body to the morgue for autopsy and registered a case against the unidentified driver.

Moreover, Shahdara police said Rukhsar was crossing a road near Saggian Bridge when a motorcycle-rickshaw hit her. The driver fled from the scene while police impounded the rickshaw.

An elderly man was run over and killed by a tractor-trolley in Nishtar Colony.

The unidentified man was standing at a bus stop at the time of the incident.

Police shifted the body for identification.

COLLAPSE: Two people suffered injuries after a dilapidated roof of a small house caved in on Wednesday.

Rescue 1122 personnel shifted the injured to Jinnah Hospital.

The house was owned by Mushtaq in Green Town, while his sister Aasia and her husband were victims who were trapped under the debris.
