KARACHI: Fine batting by Shaharyar Ghani and Fazal Subhan set the foundation of Pakistan CC’s comprehensive 112-run victory over Royal CC that helped them reach the quarter-finals of the All-Karachi Mohammad Zameer Khan Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Hill Park Ground here the other day.

The left-handed Shaharyar struck 60 with the aid of six sixes and two fours, while Fazal hit six boundaries and a brace of sixes in making 64 as Pakistan CC posted 195-6 in their allotted 20 overs.

Sajjad Ali claimed three wickets for 43 runs.

Royal CC, in reply, were shot out for 83 in the 14th over. Off-spinner Junaid Ilyas wrecked their hopes with excellent figures of four for 18, while slow left-armer Fawad Khan bagged three wickets for only seven runs.

Despite a superb knock of 83 from Mohammad Afzal, Pak Gymkhana suffered a six-wicket defeat against Rangers CC in another fixture at the same venue.

Mohammad Akbar contributed an unbeaten 58 to help Rangers CC chase down their target of 169 with three balls to spare.
