RAHIM YAR KHAN: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif laid here on Tuesday the foundation stone of the Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said the university would be completed in one year at a cost of Rs3.5 billion. He said classes in the disciplines of electrical, mechanical and computer sciences would be introduced in September 2014.

The chief minister further said the university building would be state of the art and a steering committee would monitor its work on a monthly basis for its timely completion.

“Best Ph.D teachers will be appointed on merit.”

Earlier, Shahbaz Sharif spoke at the second convocation of the Sheikh Zayed Medical College (SZMC) in Sheikh Khalifa School Auditorium.

He distributed degrees and medals among position-holder students and inaugurated the new emergency and CCU wards and visited different departments of the SZMCH.

People faced difficulties as all hospital entrances were closed during the CM’s visit.
