LARKANA: The district administration on Tuesday announced a local holiday in Larkana on Thursday to facilitate the polling process for PS 35 Larkana-I by-election.

A notification issued by Larkana Deputy Commissioner Ganhwer Ali Leghari said that the decision was taken in the light of instructions from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Sources in the ECP and police said over 4,000 police and Rangers personnel would perform their duties in Larkana on the polling day while the army would also be deployed at polling stations. The polling material would be dispatched to the constituency on Wednesday, they added.

No HSSC papers

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Larkana, has announced that all Higher Secondary School Certificate papers scheduled for Thursday (April 24) in Larkana have been postponed and rescheduled for May 5.

Larkana BISE controller of examination Sikandar Ali Mirjat issued a notification saying that the papers were rescheduled on account of the PS-35 by-election for which polling would be held on Thursday.
