RAWALPINDI: Diya FC Karachi and Young Rising Star (YRS) Rawalpindi enjoyed comfortable victories in their matches on the opening day of the National U-16 Women’s Football Championship here at Divisional Public School’s football ground on Tuesday.

The first game was a one-sided one with Diya FC thrashing Young Rising Star (YRS) Layyah 4-0 thanks to goals by Kubra Anwar (eighth minute), Kiran (27th), Rubab (62nd) and Krishma Inayat (66th).

Defending champions YRS Rawalpindi, meanwhile, ran out 3-0 winners over Frontier College Club Peshawar.

The first-half was evenly-matched with both teams giving an excellent account of themselves before Eman Maqsood opened the scoring in the 34th minute.

YRS Rawalpindi dominated possession in the second-half and Anorina scored a beautiful goal in the 37th before captain Eman Hussain scored their third in the 53rd.

Earlier, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sajid Zafar Dal, MNA Malik Abrar and local MPA Raja Muhammad Hanif were the chief guests at the opening ceremony.

Action on Wednesday will see two more matches at the event with Fatimah Jinnah Club Karachi facing Frontier College Club and Soccer Queen clashing with YRS Layyah.
