National Book Day Festival to start from April 22

ISLAMABAD: National Book Foundation (NBF) will hold National Book Day Festival with a number of literary activities to commemorate the 5th National Book Day, starting from April 22 (Tuesday).

The three-day National Book Day Festival would be held at Pak-China Friendship Center under a slogan “Book leads to Peace” and feature school childrens' book parade, childrens' book anthem, hoisting of book flag and oath-taking ceremony in the opening session.

Managing Director, National Book Foundation (NBF) Professor Dr. Inam-ul-Haq Javeid will deliver his inaugural address and highlight the important functions and achievements of NBF.

Federal Minister for Information and National Heritage, Senator Pervaiz Rashid would be the chief guest at inauguration ceremony of the festival.

This cause-oriented event would help promote book reading culture among the people.

The significance of celebrating this event is to provide golden opportunities to the people to buy books at discounted rates from the book stalls set up in the festival.

A large number of youth, students, educationists and people from all walks of life will attend this book-gala.

National Book Day will promote enrich culture and education among the people effectively who can enjoy entertaining programs, meet with the legends of our country and spend moments with renowned writers under one roof and spot.

On first day, a meaningful and purposeful sitting in the evening will be held with well known writer and Legend of Urdu Literature, Ata-Ul-Haq Qasmi in Central Hall.

This segment will be hosted by Film-Star, Reema Khan and TV Artist, Farah Hussain.

The people from every field of life will enjoy the glimpses of dramas of Ata-Ul-Haq Qasmi, a comprehensive report on his literary achievements and face to face talk with this legendary figure.

On the second day, a special Program will be arranged with a world fame personality, Zia Mohyeddin in the segment of Live with Legend at 7 pm where he will present the story of classical literature to contemporary literature in an interesting way.

The multiple programs of children of different schools and particularly presentation of the blind children in the segments of the event will be entertaining for public.

The high caliber authors, famous writers, thinkers, showbiz stars, dignitaries and personalities of different fields of the country will participate in the Mela as NBF Book Ambassadors.

The segment of Book Reading by well known writers in first session and then by Film and TV artists in second session will bring a huge amusement, knowledge and entertainment at large scale.

The main purpose of this segment is to inculcate the culture and create the habit of book reading to our new generation and particularly youth.
