Folk festival concludes

ISLAMABAD: The ten-day folk festival, known as ‘Lok Mela’ concluded here on Sunday. The event was organised by Lok Virsa in collaboration with all provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.

Thousands of people from different walks of life attended the festival during the 10 days, which featured artisans-at-work exhibition, provincial cultural pavilions, folk songs and dance performances, cultural evenings, craft markets, theatrical performance along with other entertainment for children and families.

The information secretary, Dr Nazir Saeed, felicitated the management for successfully conducting the national festival and promoting inter-provincial harmony. MNA Naeema Kishwar lauded Lok Virsa for promoting the culture of Pakistan and strengthening unity.

Earlier, Lok Virsa’s executive director, Shaheera Shahid, thanked the provincial governments for their cooperation.

Dr Saeed also distributed cash awards to wining artisans of the exhibition. – APP
