THE government is working hard to overcome the energy crisis. For this purpose, coal-based power plants are being planned at a number of locations in Punjab.
The government must know that coal-based power plants have serious environmental and health impacts. Besides, ozone emission is harmful for crop production.
Thus, setting up of such plants in agriculture-producing areas would be catastrophic.
Moreover, there would be issues related to water availability, inversion impact of particulate matter and disposal of ash.
I urge the departments concerned to reassess the suitability of coal-based power plants’ location.

I do nit get shocked anymore to see the utter lack of decency from our family based political parties. But I still get very sad when I see how people of Pakistan remains silent when we all can clearly see where we are heading. Our silence of today will cost our children's future tomorrow. Exactly what will bring the people of Pakistan to come together in the nations capital? Why do we not see any democratic protests in Islamabad? Will we just die a little by little every day until we finally die for good?
