KARACHI: The directorate of immigration and passports has approached the Sindh authorities to get control of its Malir building, which is currently in possession of the district administration, to expand its facility for residents, it emerged on Friday.

An official said that director general of immigration and passports Sikandar Sultan Raja spent a few hours at the overcrowded passport office in Saddar, which was also serving as regional passport office for district west and Malir.

“The DG has been briefed that the Malir building is ready but it is under the district administration control,” said Khalid Memon, deputy director of regional passport office in Karachi.

“The DG ordered inquiry into the matter and met the chief secretary seeking his assistance to get back the building possession so that the people of Malir district could be served better.”
