POL prices

Published April 17, 2014

PRICES of POL products are reviewed at the start of every month. These are mostly revised upward and rarely downward. While reviewing the prices of POL products recently for April 2014, the government kept its promise by lowering prices of all POL products in various ratio. Somehow, the price of petrol, the product mostly consumed by motorists, particularly in the absence of CNG, has been reduced measly.

Although prices of all POL products have been reduced, irrespective of their ratio, petrol and diesel prices remain on the higher side, keeping the resources of motorists, particular those with limited income, constantly under pressure.

It is, however, a bitter fact that a lot of petrol and diesel is consumed by government vehicles unnecessarily. The adoption of some fuel-saving measures can help check this avoidable extra burden on the national exchequer.
