ISLAMABAD: A controversy surrounding a physical brawl between a civil judge and assistant commissioner, tehsil Balakot, on Thursday reached Islamabad when prime minister office taking notice of the incident sought a report from the chief secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within two days.

On Tuesday last, civil judge Islamuddin Khan with the help of his support staff had allegedly thrashed assistance commissioner, Mohammad Ali Khan, when the latter stopped the judge from constructing a parking shed within the premises of the tehsil administration for the use of his fellow judges.

According to an eyewitness account, judicial officers were long eying the space available on the premises of tehsil administration for the parking lot. On Tuesday, when the accused civil judge tried to erect parking shed, the concerned AC stopped him, which led to a confrontation.

After the incident, the assistant commissioner in the FIR told how the judge and his official guard and court staff tortured him over the alleged encroachment of the tehsil office land. Police said FIR against the attackers was registered under the Code of Criminal Procedure’s sections 324, 353, 447, 147 and 148. The charges included murder attempt, criminal assault to deter a public servant from discharging his duty, criminal trespass, rioting and carrying deadly weapon.

AC Asghar has also submitted a written application with the SC registrar, explaining the incident and demanding action against the accused civil judge.

The accused civil judge is on pre-arrest bail and trying to diffuse the situation by engaging officials from the KP provincial government. However, sources at the prime minister office said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had taken notice of the incident, thus, whosoever found guilty would be taken to task.
