PTI leader tables resolution in PA against MQM chief's remarks

LAHORE: A Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly secretariat on Wednesday against the statements made a day earlier by chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain, urging Pakistan’s armed forces not to follow any ‘anti-state orders’ of the government, DawnNews reported.
Hussain made statements which could lead to anarchy in the country, the resolution said.
The resolution further condemned any step that promoted strife in Pakistan.
Earlier on March 18, the MQM chief while addressing a rally organised to celebrate 30th foundation day of the party, urged Pakistan’s armed forces to not follow any ‘anti-state orders’ of the government with regards to sending troops abroad, in an apparent reference to reported shift in government’s policy over Syria in the aftermath of $1.5 billion ‘friendly donation by Saudi Arabia.’
Hussain had also warned the rulers against inflicting sectarian disharmony in the country by following ‘policies of others’.

I am amazed at this comment from PTI. Are they saying that the armed forces should take orders even if it destroys the state?. If everything was left to the politicians (or for that matter Mullahs), they will destroy Pakistan within no time.

What on earth is happening and its very shocking. Army should defy the orders of government if they are against the state. Army's job is to defend the nation, not let it slip out in unsafe hands. Saudi Arabia will never be a true of friend of Pakistan as its interest are based on personal gain. Even giving dollars it does not mean that some one is your friend. Politicians have proved as failures to run the nation. Its better to let Army run our nation and atleast our country will be safe.

The PTI leader is playing old politics, when just a few drone months away PTI was releasing identical statements. Lest everyone forgets, PTI went against the state and blocked NATO shipments.
They are right, such statements could lead to anarchy. However, PTI was issuing more such statements in the recent past.

I think we should not favor Atlaf and his party in anyway. He has always supported martial law in the country and involved in the killing of many innocent people in Karachi and other cities of Sindh. He had virtually hijacked the Karachi for the last two decades but now his end is about to come.....Let us support and allow various institutions in our country to play their role legitimately without crossing the boundaries. We need stability in our country and not the people like Altaf.

With all due respects... the state does
not have it's writ anywhere. Not even
in the capital. Even courts are bombed
at will. The army stays in barracks. Including
when big jailbreaks occur 3 kilometers away.
{D I Khan terrorists jailbreak}...so either way
it is up in the air anything will happen.

As usual PTI is wrong.
Any order given by ANY Government which undermines the integrity or Constitution of the Republic or which breaches the Geneva convention, or which could be considered illegal either in Pakistan or the International Criminal Court in the Hague (Pakistan is a signatory) must be resisted by the Army or any other State servant /official.
Remember the defence: "I was only following orders" does not hold up in court. (Certainly not the courts of civilised countries as opposed to Pakistan).
No Government is above the Law.

@Khalid: any one wrong in your mind is not a mullah.. MQM was referring to a democratically elected PM nawaz sharif. Nawaz sharif is the Prime minister and Army chief is subordinate to him .. therefore the army should take orders from him .. this will definitely create anarchy in country if the subordinates start scrutinizing orders of their seniors.. the same could be said about junior army officers then to not to obey the orders of seniors if they think the order is wrong ?USe your brain

Any one who issue anti state order or any official issue order violating the state's constitution must be brought to justice.

First time in his history Mr. Altaf said something sensibly. On behalf of Saudia Arabia and Behran for just their own personal interest, we shouldn't send our Pak Army anywhere in this world. We should start making our good relationships with our neighbors.

Altaf is doing nothing but reminding the Army of their oath. Unlike all other government institutions, our defenders take an oath to protect the "constitution that represents people's aspirations" rather than just to protect the constitution.

Even though Altaf Hussain habitually makes off-the-cuffs remarks but this time he is right. Pakistan has no right to take side in Iran- Saudi rivalry . $1.5 billion 'gift' is a bait to drag us into the regional conflict. Lahori group is looking at short term gains.

A democratically elected government is mandated to follow policies in the interest of the country as it sees fit. However in a parliamentary democracy any big and important decision should only be taken after consultations and agreement with all political parties and also keeping in mind the will of the majority of the citizens-the electorate.
Now, for a political party to not table a motion in the assembly to discuss such an important issue, and instead inviting the army, not to obey the orders of an elected government is pure and self-serving politics-which if followed by the army will be tantamount to treason and will indeed lead to anarchy. However, not to worry, the army as a developed and professional institution knows what is in the best interest of the country and will act accordingly.

Altaf Hussain is right, PTI should put forward a resolution agains a non elected and terrorist organisation TTP rather then pick on Altaf Hussain. PTI leaders have lost their credibility for supporting the killings of innocent people of Pakistan. Altaf is a check and balance of reminding people of what is right and wrong for Pakistan, truth often hurts.
