FAISALABAD: A number of Punjab Medical College students blocked Sargodha Road on Wednesday night after being informed that two robbers shot at their colleague.

Students blocked traffic outside the PMC boys hostel on both sides of Sargodha Road and chanted slogans against the police.

Two robbers stopped PMC second-year student Huzafa and tried to snatch his motorcycle. On resistance, the robbers shot at him and fled.

The injured student was shifted to Allied Hospital where his condition is said to be stable.

Talking to reporters, the protesters said the incidence of robbery had increased because of police ‘negligence’ and students were being targeted in their hostels. They said thieves time and again made off with valuables from hostel rooms.

Police officials rushed to the spot and held talks with the protesters. The protest was continued till the filing of this report at 9:30pm.
