KARACHI: The government of Sindh made several administrative changes on Tuesday night in the wake of reports of death of over 100 children in drought-hit Thar and criticism of the government’s perceived failure to take timely action to contain the crisis.
“I can confirm that Senior Member Board of Revenue, Lala Fazl Rehman, has been removed from his post,” Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said late on Tuesday night.
The minister also told this reporter that Makhdoom Jamil-ul-Zaman had been relieved of the charge of relief, although he would continue to work as minister for revenue.
Mr Memon said that PPP Sindh’s leader Taj Haider had been given the charge of relief commissioner.

Birds of same feather flock together ! The CM, Sharjeel Memon etc., are all sailing in the corrupt to the core boat. Where were they when Tharparkar was suffering? Don't we all know that Thar is a far flung and totally neglected area of interior Sindh? Why appropriate steps were never taken in the past during several past and present PPP governments? They all have their hands in their pockets. Now they are trying to indulge in shameless face savings by announcing transfers and suspensions of various government officials.

Ex Senator - Taj Haider is from Karachi, google map says the distance between Karachi and Tharparkar is 408 km. What a great decision!

" Makhdoom Jamil-ul-Zaman had been relieved of the charge of relief, although he would continue to work as minister for revenue" - means now he willsit at home and get his salary. So this was a punishment or a reward. There should have been strict action against him. He should be suspended. If CM could not do so then PM should have taken action.

Why not sack an incompetent, incapacitated, ill informed, ineffective Chief Minister, the Health Minister and the Information Minister as well. They have all proven how utterly useless officials they are. And what has the "Dancing Boy" from the ruins of Moenjadaro got to tweet on this catastrophe of Tharparkar?

There is no better example of an incompetent government. You remove a few office holders to sympathise with dying innocents. Did not you see it coming? Obviously not because you were too engrossed in your life of luxury & fun.

It is high time that PPP should improve their performance; Punjab always had been the centre of their stronghold but no more; and now in Sind are showing their anger over their performance. I was surprised to see Mr. Taj Haider enjoying the CM press conference on Tharparkar silently. It is good for the CM that ZAB and Bibi are not alive. God knows how they have reacted.
PPP is loosing their good image as poor people's party and their senior leadership should consider Thar case as a wake up call.

@nadeem:
a bitter truth but you are 100% right. I am living in Europe for several years and I do come across some Pakistanis with Sindhi origin and man you have to believe me, they don't wan't to hear anything bad about Zardari. For instance, if someone calls Zaradari Mr. 10% they started fighting with him. Ah! these vigilant & vernal young Sindhis aren't from Bhutto or Zardari tribe either. They are ordinary or lower-ordinary class citizens. And guess what, they are still hoping to Bilawal will bring the much needed change in their lives and they will prosper again under the leadership of 'Baby Bhutto' huh!

@Danish Haider:
He may settle down in drought-hit Thar for serving the people in more efficient and effective way. Why doubt the integrity of Pakistan People's Party that came into being with the prime slogan of Roti Kapra and Makaan. After food needs are met they will care for clothing and then about shelter per Maslow's hierarchy. All this takes time may be a century or more, because decades have not been enough to accomplish Roti Kapra Makan goal. Please dont doubt their intentions. Thanks.

Where was the assistant commissioner or DCO of the area, why did he not raise an alarm. Probably because they are safarishis not on duty but doing business elsewhere. Corruption has seeped in every where.
