SIALKOT: The local officials of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) have illegally given gas connection to a Harrar Village field owned by an influential landlord, ignoring a large number of applicants who had been seeking gas supply for the last several years.

Talking to Dawn at SNGPL Sialkot office here on Monday, some senior officials requesting anonymity said the company had no policy to give connection to fields.

They said the connection had been given to landlord Muhammad Iqbal on political pressure during the PPP regime two and a half years ago.
