MANSEHRA: Mansehra police on Saturday said they had arrested a man for targeted killings and other crimes in Karachi.

District Police Officer Khurram Rashid told reporters here that the arrest of Mohammad Jibran was

made in Khaku area on a tip-off and that he was being quizzed at a secret place.

He said the alleged criminal had fled Karachi to avoid arrest after the start of operation against criminals.

“Jibran is wanted to police in seven cases of heinous crimes,” he said.

CRACKDOWN ON REFUGEES: Police on Saturday arrested many Afghan refugees in Mansehra and Battagram for the alleged involvement in criminal activities during a crackdown.

Also, some refugees were held for living in the region without permission.

The crackdown was planned in the wake of the terrorist attacks on two main electricity pylons in Mansehra and Battagram.

An official said the arrested were made at Barari and Khaki Afghan refugee camps.

He said unlicensed arms were also seized during the crackdown.

The official said names of the arrested men would be made public after scrutiny of their documents.

ROBBERS HELD: Mansehra police on Friday arrested three men for looting a local resident in Darra area.

Mohammad Aftab had told police that an armed group intercepted his car and deprived him of Rs3 million cash and car when he along with a friend was on the way to his home in Mansehra.

Police later found the car abandoned in College Doraha area.

They later held Gul Shahzad, Mohammad Zahid and Sirajuddin.

They said raids were being conduced to arrest the accomplices of the arrested men.

HOUSE GUTTED: A multi-storey house was reduced to ashes in Pares area of Kaghan valley in a huge fire on Saturday.

However, no damage to human life was reported.

Zakir Shah, owner of the house, said the fire was caused by a short circuit.

It was the second fire incident in the valley during the last one month.
