KHYBER: A remote-controlled explosion, targeting a security forces’ vehicle in Khyber Agency’s Landi Kotal tehsil Monday, killed two security personnel and injured seven others, DawnNews reported.

According to sources, a convoy of Frontier Corps (FC) personnel was travelling from Landi Kotal tehsil to Jamrud. As the vehicle reached Sadukhel, it struck a roadside Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that went off with a loud explosion. Subsequently, two security personnel were killed whereas seven others sustained injuries.

Moreover, one of the FC vehicles was also destroyed in the blast.

The wounded FC soldiers were shifted to Combined Military Hospital Landi Kotal.

Following the explosion, security personnel cordoned off the area and a search operation went underway.

Nobody has so far claimed responsibility for the incident but it occurred just two days after the Pakistani Taliban announced a month-long ceasefire aimed at resuming peace talks with the government.

Khyber, one of the seven semi-autonomous tribal regions, straddles the Nato supply line into Afghanistan, used by US-led troops to evacuate military equipment ahead of their withdrawal later this year.

Am I the only one who is not surprised to hear this horrible news? Really how many more of our soldiers must die before this PM wakes up and sees terorists for what they are?

Ceasefire, at the same time firing at security personnel is a non-starter. We expect painful reprisal from armed forces of Pakistan. Give disproportionate reply to the terrorists.

The lion of Punjab is scratching his head. Looking perturbed. Painful, baleful look on his face. Still cannot decide what to do. While civilians and soldiers are killed regularly. The army making pin pricks only.

Unfortunately, the only successful way to deal with the terrorists' mind is this "if the terrorists kill 10 innocent persons, you kill their 100, and then let the terrorists decide what to do next". It should be like a game. I mean 1 to 10 ratio. After 10 or 20 suicide attempts, these terrorists will do calculations and realize the disadvantage of future terrorists attacks. This technique has worked for other countries, everyone knows that. This is the only way Pakistan can survive. Pakistan should never go for full scale operation. These terrorists are best fighters when it comes to fighting in mountains. Pakistan should only use PAF jets or helicopters. This is an operational strategy. What Pakistan also needs to do is provide a just balanced society to fight terrorism in the long run. Get rid of these corrupt politicians, corrupt generals, and provide system of justice etc to fight terrorism.

@Usman Khan: The prevailing situation is far the approach of a common man. As far as my point of view the criminal mind segment with strong support on their back might be involved in sabotage activities. I would suggest that each and every citizen must require to keep close watch on those neighbors, who migrated from some unknow areas are residing in their mohalas or villages and attain their identification through their respective police stations. Besides, we also to note close watch on their activities at all times.
