PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Wednesday approved names of a five-member search and scrutiny committee to operationalise the Ehtesab Act, 2014.

The approval was given by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, says a handout issued here.

According to the handout, the committee members are Justice (r) Abdul Aziz Kundi, former chief secretary Abdullah, senior journalist Ismail Khan, former vice chancellor Professor Mohammad Daud and social worker Mohammad Hamayun.

Bahramand Jan, director at the provincial information department, told Dawn that the committee’s names had been forwarded to the secretary of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly for further action.

He said the people could send their opinions and reservations about the committee members to the assembly secretary for consideration.

The director said the assembly had approved the Ehtesab Act on Jan 13, 2014 to eradicate corruption and ensure good governance.

He said the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government was committed to ending corruption and taking decisions on merit. —Bureau Report
