A Rangers spokesman said the two killed in the encounter were members of the proscribed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) who resisted arrest and opened fire when the raiding team reached the area.

He added that the two were killed in retaliatory firing by security forces and also claimed recovering grenades, handguns and other weapons from the men.

The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in the city.

The bodies were later identified as those of gang members who were killed by rival gangsters, according to police sources.
