KARACHI: The Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Chamber Of Commerce and Industry (PAJCCI) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA) to support trading and investment ventures.

The MoU was signed at the recently concluded second Joint Annual Conference of PAJCCI in Kabul, Afghanistan. After the signing of the MoU, members of PAJCCI would be able to avail mutual opportunities.

Also, the MoU will help ease out the process of business licensing in Afghanistan for Pakistani businesses.

In this context, a letter of recommendation by PAJCCI would be given priority and would eliminate the need of extensive documentation.

During the conference, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) also committed to have a MoU signed by the Customs of both countries for ensuring facilitation across the border. A meeting in this regard will take place in Kabul in the first quarter of 2014.

The 20-member trade delegation of PAJCCI led by its co president Zubair Motiwala was in Afghanistan for the conference last week.

The delegation met several dignitaries and governmental officials during the visit fir increasing bilateral trade.

During the conference, the 2nd Joint Trade Survey was also launched, while deliberations were held by Khan Jan Alkozai, Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, Minister for Trade and Commerce Afghanistan Mozammil Shinwari, Director Customs Afghanistan Gul Pacha and Secretary FBR Pakistan Ms Saleha Zakir Shah.—PPI
