NAB summons former PM Gilani in NICL scam case

ISLAMABAD: The combined investigation team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Tuesday issued a notice to former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani among other NICL scam accused to appear for before the team on Wednesday.

Former secretary establishment Abdul Rauf Chaudhry, former secretary interior Qamar Zaman Chaudhry and former director general Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Malik Muhammad Iqbal were grilled by the team on Tuesday also as tasked by the Supreme Court.

The team comprising of NAB investigators and representatives of the Police and SECP, investigated the accused for more than two hours each and also sought written replies to the allegations against them which they have submitted, said a NAB statement.

According to a press release issued here, the accused were asked tough questions in accordance with their respective role in the in the NICL scam.

The investigation team had also summoned former principal secretary to the prime minister, Khushnood Akhter Lashari, but he did not appear before the team being abroad and the notice had been retuned unaccepted.

Former Additional Director General FIA Zafar Ahmed Quershi also appeared before the investigation team to respond to different questions about the case.

The team is determining the role of other accused and notices will be issued to them accordingly for the purpose of investigation without any exception.
