RAWALPINDI, Nov 24: Although repair work at Marrir grid station which had caught fire on Saturday evening has not been completed, electricity supply to the garrison city has been restored.
Chief Engineer Operation Fayyaz Ahmed Siddiqui said the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) was working round the clock at the grid station.
“Replacement of feeders at the grid station is in progress even though the power supply has been restored,” he added.
He said of the total 27 feeders at the grid station, 24 had been affected.
“The fire damaged three power transformers and led to the suspension of power supply to these 24 feeders,” he maintained.
“Luckily, no one was hurt in the incident ,” he said.
Mr Siddiqui added that the cause of the fire would be ascertained after a detailed inquiry into the incident.—APP
