MUZAFFARGARH, Nov 19: The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has reportedly issued a 'threat’ to Kot Addu Assistant Commissioner Naveed Hussain Ruth that he will be blown up in a bomb blast soon.

AC Ruth said he had received a letter from the TTP on Saturday wherein he was threatened to be killed as revenge for the killing of Hakimullah Mehsud.

Mr Ruth had supervised the operation that unearthed a plot to attack the Muharram procession on the Railway Road where an improvised explosive device (IED) had been planted in gravel on Muharram 9. He said he had registered a case with the Kot Addu Police Station and police were busy probing the matter.

The Kot Addu AC said he had earlier received threats when he started operation against the land mafia and retrieved hundreds of acres of land from illegal occupants.

Last month, MNA Jamshed Dasti had submitted a privilege motion against Mr Ruth and the district administration, including DCO, DPO, RPO and DG Khan commissioner, after he retrieved 171 shops in Sanawan city, functioning on state land illegally for the last 45 years.

Sources said land mafia could not be ruled out in the threatening letter case. DCO Farasat Iqbal said he had provided additional security to the Kot Addu AC.
