LAHORE, Nov 5: A fresh westerly wave that gave light showers over the upper parts of the country on Tuesday is likely to generate fairly widespread rain in the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab during the next 72 hours.

There are also chances of snowfall over the hills that will intensify winter there and further drop temperatures in the plains.

According to the Met department, fairly widespread thunderstorm/rain with snowfall over the hills is likely over Mehmand, Bajour, Khyber, Kurrum agencies, Peshawar, Malakand, Mardan, Hazara, Zhob divisions, Waziristan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Scattered thunderstorm/rain with snowfall over the hills may occur over Quetta, Sibbi, Nasirabad, Kalat, Larkana, Hyderabad, Karachi, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Kohat, Bannu, D I Khan divisions and Islamabad.

Isolated thunderstorm/rain is expected over Makran, Mirpur Khas, Sukkur, Bahawalpur, D.G. Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Lahore and Sargodha divisions.

The barani areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab are expected to receive good rains on Wednesday and Thursday. Rain is also expected in the rice growing areas of Punjab during the period.

Meanwhile, Kalam received 7mm of rain, Mirkhani and Khuzdar 6 (each), Parachinar and Drosh 5 (each), Chitral and Nokundi 03 (each), Kalat and Dalbandin 2 (each) and Dir1.
