KARACHI, Oct 19: A magnificent all-round performance by Osama Ali inspired Southshore School to a crushing 59-run victory over Habib Public School (HPS) in the opening match of the fifth Ian Fyfe Memorial Inter-school T20 Invitation Cricket League here at the KGA Gymkhana Ground on Saturday.

Left-handed Osama, son of former international Sajid Ali, struck an undefeated 89 to power Southshore School to 179-3 and then grabbed two wickets for 24 runs with his off-spin bowling as HPS slumped to 120-9.

Taha Raza made a fighting 50 for the losing side, while Ahmed Kabir contributed 25.

Leg-spinner Hasan Shahab also bowled to claim two wickets for 22 runs.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Rev Father Robert D’Silva.
